Ubuntu has released alpha 6 of Ubuntu Karmic Kola. What comes with alpha 6 you ask! Most noticeably a nice new graphical boot screen and a software store.
Alpha 6 is the last alpha before Karmic Koala goes beta. Which means that it’s pretty safe to say that these features will be sticking around. The new boot screen, called xsplash, will display right after the BIOS works its way through POST. A new GRUB screen pops up if there are more than one OS present, then the graphic loading screen loads which takes you to the login screen and then to the desktop.
